Fluoride is a natural mineral that gives your teeth the ability to fight dental issues, like tooth decay and enamel erosion. This is why it’s strongly encouraged to expose your chompers to fluoride each day. To help you do so, Dr. Chuck Majors and our dental team are happy to tell you how to access fluoride.

First, ask for a fluoride treatment at MajorSmiles. When you come into our office for your six-month checkup, your treatment will generally come in the form of a foam, gel or varnish and it will strengthen and nourish your teeth. To make the treatment more enjoyable, it will likely be flavored.

Second, use fluoride oral hygiene products. It’s best to brush your teeth twice a day with fluoride toothpaste that has been approved by the American Dental Association. Also, rinse your mouth once a day with fluoride mouthwash. If you do so, your smile will be thoroughly cleaned and supported.

Third, use natural fluoride sources. You can find fluoride in specific bottles of water and in your tap water. Usually, cities provide fluoridated water for your health and convenience. Lastly, there are some foods you can eat that can help you increase your fluoride exposure. Those foods are pickles, carrots, spinach and tomatoes. For additional tips about fluoridated food, please talk to Dr. Chuck Majors.

If you take advantage of these fluoride sources, there is a good chance you’ll have a strong smile that can fight many dental issues.
